About

Shijun is a Surrey-based multidiscipinary artist, specialising in the intersection of traditional Chinese art forms and contemporary practice. Her work bridges Eastern and Western artistic sensibilities, drawing from nature’s patterns and rhythms while exploring how different cultures, in particular Chinese culture, interpret and learn from the natural world.

Growing up with breathtaking landscapes of Guilin in Southern China, the beauty and power of nature has always been the inspiration in her art; the love of Chinese literature and philosophy brings eastern sensibilities to her practice.  From these cultural perspectives, she explores humanity’s relationship with nature, creating work that speaks to both cultural heritage and current ecological conversations. Her artworks aim to bring a stillness that rhymes with the rhythms of the natural world and to share the wonder and appreciation for its intricate beauty with its audience.
